Kevin Traynor

Oct.4th 1955 - July 1st 2005

It is hard to sum up Kevin. He was so many things: scuba instructor, boat captain, pilot, and engineer. Those are just things that he did and he was so much more than all that. He was one of those people that you never forgot after meeting. He was always joking around and making people laugh. He was a great friend to so many.

It came as quite a shock when we learned of the auto accident that took Kevin's life on July 1st.

Kevin Honoring Kevin:

In honor of our dear friend we thought the only fitting resting place for him was the sea that he loved so much.
So on a calm September day we took our friend Kevin on his last dive. As none of us had ever done anything like this we did what we thought he would like. We took off on Dreamer from the dock around 5:30pm with a cooler full of beer and some snacks.
With his favorite music playing we made our way to his favorite dive site Porto Marie. The ocean was like glass. We told Kevin stories on the way . Once we arrived we took a few pictures and suited up. With a beer in hand we took him on his last dive. Porto Marie has a crevasse between two of the reefs and this is where we released him after toasting him. It was quite a struggle to get him out of the can with the increased pressure. With a bit of effort and help from Steve we were able to release Kevin. It was a beautiful cloud between the reefs.
As we reached the boat there was the most gorgeous sunset. We had saved some of the roses from the flowers sent by his family for the first memorial service, so we released them in the water to drift off into the sunset. Just as we started to leave 5 pelicans flew over the boat.

It was a very special day for all that took part, we all have fond memories of Kevin and know that he looked down on us that day and smiled and would have been pleased in the party we had for him.

Kevin was a very special person and will stay in our hearts and will live on through the great stories we tell about him. He lived each day as if it was his last.
